It’s midnight in Ft. Lauderdale.
Turns out it was a Florida thing. There was a great fluttering of apologies, and promises to make it better in the morning, and off we went back out into the night. The next day there was a message asking us to please come back, at our leisure. When the Assistant Manger showed us to our room, upgraded into a suite with a separate 8 place dining & kitchen area, a sweeping view of the Atlantic beaches, and two bathrooms, she didn’t bat an eye. She looked it over and said, “This will do, thank you.” After he left, I fell on the ground before her in praise of the Queen of the Comp! She acknowledged my admiration of her masterful performance with a casual glance.
There are so many memories of Robin that I would love to share, and I hope this site can be forum for everyone who would like to share their photos, and memories, too. It doesn’t need to be a lot, or polished, or ‘waiting for just the right words,’ (trust me, there are no ‘right’ words), or anything fancy, just jot down how you feel. I’ll attempt to keep an eye on things before it’s posted, so whatever you feel moved to share would be great. To quote Dorothy Parker, “If you can’t say something nice…, sit next to me.”
We’d just survived a harrowing taxi cab ride at the end of a long cross-country journey, and we were not ‘amused’, as the British so charmingly put it. By the third time the desk clerk of the fancy beachside hotel patiently explained to me, “Yes, we do have your reservation, but we don’t have a room for you here, so we’re gonna move you over to our sister property…”, I could see my princess was becoming even less amused. Perhaps there were even muttered phrases like, ”London, Paris, Rome, I’ve never had this happen before!…”
Got some pix to share? We’d all love to see them!
Please do tell us all!
I know that everyone who loved Robin would love to hear it, whatever you feel moved to share…
For the moment, the upload is limited to 5 photos at a time but feel free to upload as many as you like. We’ll get it sorted out and approved for posting on the website.
